Bruce Stenner, 57, died suddenly of a heart attack on Sept. 16.
Born on July 17, 1952, Stenner saw color in everything. His imaginative spirit flowed into all that he did, including painting, sculpting, creative solutions for problems and even transforming junk furniture into beautiful pieces. He had a generous heart and a happy spirit. As an openly gay man, he was accepting of other people, no matter what their background, and he always remembered names and details in other people’s lives.
Stenner overcame his own past adversities through his giving spirit, and was compassionate and empathetic to the problems of others. But he was absolutely forthright, told it like it was, and never took claptrap from anyone. His friends will remember his cackling laugh, his sweet smile, his cheerful way of greeting them and his total honesty. They will also remember that he reached out to those less fortunate, those who were homeless or ill or suffering. Friends say Stenner had learned through his own suffering to face adversity head-on, and because of this, he reached out to others who were HIV-positive at Resource Center Dallas, and helped the less fortunate through the work of his church.
Stenner is survived by his life partner of 16 years, Dr. David Baldwin; by friends too numerous to list; and by two faithful cats named Renna Mae and Peggy.
A memorial service will be held by Stenner’s church family, Peace Mennonite Church, at the Midway Hills Christian Church, 11001 Midway Road, on Monday, Oct. 19, at 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be sent to Resource Center Dallas , 2701 Reagan St. 75219.

Friends and Family of the late Donald George Jackson of Dallas with gather for a memorial service on Sunday Oct 11 at 2 p.m. at The Haverly Park Apts Clubhouse, located at 4701 Haverwood Lane. The clubhouse is located on Pearidge Road. Ask for directions at the main office.
Jackson died Sept. 8 at the age of 64. He is survived by his longtime partner, Richard Shaver; his mother, Ann Collier Jackson; brother, Collier Jackson and his wife, Peggy; sister, Ann Jackson and her husband, Ziad Abusbeih; nephew, Matthew Jackson and his wife, Brandy; nephew, Stewart Jackson; niece, Summer Abusbeih; and great-nephew, Barrett Jackson.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, friends make donations to their favorite charity in the name of Don Jackson.
