Actors Charlie David and Tracy Scoggins, two of the stars of Here TV’s supernatural soap opera “Dante’s Cove,” will be appearing at Houston’s 2006 Pride Festival on June 24, festival organizers announced this week.
David and Scoggins are just two of the many celebrities and entertainers both local and national who will participate in the Pride Festival this year, according to Jack Valinski, executive director of Pride Houston.
The festival begins at 2 p.m. on June 24, near the intersection of Montrose Boulevard and Westheimer Road, and continues until right before Houston’s nighttime gay Pride parade steps off.
David and Scoggins will also ride in the parade this year, Valinski said.
David, who stars as Toby on “Dante’s Cove,” has also been a host for E! Television and NBC on shows including “EYE!” and “SpyTV,” He recently shot 13 episodes as co-host of “Crash Test Mommy” for the Life Network.
David has also been the subject of a documentary on The Learning Channel and has appeared as a musical guest on VH1, BBC, CBS’ “Good Morning America” and numerous radio shows. He was a member of the boy band 4NOW, which opened for Destiny’s Child, Snoop Dog, Rick Springfield and the Black Eyed Peas, as well as many others.
On “Dante’s Cove,” Scoggins plays the role of Grace, a scorned woman with supernatural powers. Scoggins is a native Texan who attended Texas State University where she studied theater and drama.
Scoggins has appeared in many television shows, including “The Dukes of Hazzard,” “The A-Team,” “Remington Steele,” “The Fall Guy,” “Dynasty,” “Dallas,” “Star Trek: Deep Space 9” and “Highlander.” But she is perhaps best known for her role as Charlton Heston’s daughter, Monica Colby, in “The Colbys,” a spin-off of “Dynasty.”
More recently, Scoggins has appeared as gossip columnist Cat Grant on “Lois and Clark: The Adventures of Superman” and Captain Elizabeth Lochley in the award-winning series “Babylon 5.” She is also the star and producer of the upcoming independent film “Mr. Hell.”
“Dante’s Cove” is one of several original series now showing on Here TV, which is, for the second year in a row, a corporate sponsor for Pride Houston.
The show offers an eclectic cast of characters, mostly skaters, surfers and college students, of all sexual orientations, who live in an apartment complex called Hotel Dante. Along with the usual trials of daily life, the inhabitants of Hotel Dante frequently find themselves faced with some supernatural riddle to solve all of which apparently started in 1840 when Ambrosius, played by William Gregory Lee, was cursed by his fianc?, played by Scoggins, when she found him having sex with his male butler.
