Softballers place in Palm Springs tourney, donate $100 to Resource Center

FINE FORM IN 4TH: Dallas Voice Drillers strike a pose at the Palm Springs Winter Classic Softball Tournament.

The Dallas Voice Drillers finished in fourth place out of 20 teams in the Open C Division at the Palm Springs Winter Classic Softball Tournament, Jan 13-15.

The Drillers ended the weekend with 5 wins and 3 losses.

Aftergetting one win and one loss in pool play, the Drillers won their first tournament game. They lost their second game to the San Diego Viejas Aces, whichsent them into the loser’s bracket. On day two, they won three consecutive games before the PalmSprings Desert Storm ended the Drillers’ run and knockedthem out of the tournament.

Along with our their 4th place plaque, the Drillers were given $100 to donate to a community charity, which they decided to give to the Resource Center of Dallas.

The Drillers start regular season play with Pegasus Slowptich Softball Association on March 7 at Trinity View Park .

MUSTANGS’ BLOODY VALENTINE

The Lone Star Mustangs women’s full contact football team holds a Valentine Party at Buddies II on Saturday.

The Fort Worth team — part of the Women’s Football Alliance — recently started tryouts. The party will have a variety show and prizes will be raffled.
