Dallas County Commissioner Elba Garcia issued a Pride month proclamation at today’s Commissioners Court meeting. The proclamation detailed the history of June being designated Pride month nationally dating to the Stonewall Rebellion on June 28, 1969.
Garcia also praised Dallas County as being the first and only county in Texas with nondiscrimination laws that include sexual orientation and gender identity.
Resource Center CEO Cece Cox spoke first thanking the court for the recognition.
Activist Cd Kirven told the court that it was nice to have allies and not have to fight for every bit of recognition and inclusion.
