Meetings, fundraising events part of three-day schedule this weekend

The Dallas chapter of the Texas Gay Rodeo Association will host the annual meeting of the TGRA corporation April 9-11, with members representing Austin, Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio joining members from Dallas for the yearly gathering.

The meetings will take place at the Resource Center Dallas, 2701 Reagan St, on both days. The Dallas chapter will host TGRA committee meetings on Saturday, and the general meeting will take place on Sunday.

Members will meet to discuss and vote on bylaws and guidelines for the association as well as rodeo and business operations. After the meetings are complete, local TGRA members will treat their colleagues from out of town to a sample of the LGBT community nightlife and dining options.

Entertainment and fundraising events to which the public is invited are also scheduled over the weekend. Mr. TGRA 2011 candidate Armando Reyna hosts a "Midnight Rodeo and Show" Friday night at Club Los Rieles, 600 S. Riverfront Blvd. (formerly Industrial Boulevard). Rodeo-themed events including dancing demonstrations, entertainers and games will start at 9 p.m.

This event marks an inaugural TGRA fundraiser at Club Los Rieles.

On Saturday Illusions Bar, 4100 Maple Ave., hosts the 17th annual Queen of the Closet Ball, a campy contest featuring performers from throughout Texas. Miss TGRA 2011 candidate Victoria Weston hosts the event that starts at 7 p.m.
Both fundraising events will benefit the TGRA Dallas chapter and its charities.
