Events scheduled at Unity Church, Cathedral of Hope to include
presentation of live theatrical drama, “‘Pebble in My Shoe’

Bishop John Spong

The Cathedral of Hope and Unity Church of Dallas present Bishop John Shelby Spong in an extended weekend of events, including two performances of “A Pebble in My Shoe: The Life and Times of John Shelby Spong.”

The performance will be staged at 8 p.m. on Sept. 15 and 16.

Written and directed by Colin Cox, “A Pebble in My Shoe” is a live theatrical performance that opened to critical acclaim in Los Angeles in 2005.

Performances will be at Unity Church of Dallas, 6525 Forest Lane (between Preston and Hillcrest.) Tickets are $20 and are available at Unity Church of Dallas, Cathedral of Hope and online at www.cathedralofhope.com.

“A Pebble in My Shoe” is a drama about the achievements of Spong, who ordained the first openly gay priest in the Episcopal Church in the United States and the first women priest in England.

Spong will attend both performances and will speak at the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. services at Cathedral of Hope on Sept. 17. On Sept. 18 at 7 p.m., Spong will present “The Sins of Scripture” at Unity Church of Dallas. The cost for this workshop is $25.
