Christian Colbert

A Dallas County grand jury has indicted Christian Colbert, the Dallas man accused of murdering his next door neighbor and selling his Oak Cliff house, on murder charges. The indictment was handed down Friday, April 15.
Colbert was arrested in Los Angeles County in early March and remains jailed there. An extradition hearing is set for today (Monday, April 18), that should lead to him being returned to Texas for trial.
Ronald Shumway was murdered almost a year ago, although police didn’t start looking for him until September when human remains — later determined to be those of Shumway — were found beneath a concrete slab in the yard of his Oak Cliff home. Earlier this month, Colbert admitted to Dallas police detectives who flew to Los Angeles to question him that he caused the death of Ronald Shumway, bought the cement he used to bury the body and sold the house. But he claims he killed Shumway, who was his landlord, in self defense.
Colbert could be flown back to Dallas next week if he doesn’t challenge the extradition.
