The City of Dallas Senior Affairs Commission and will commemorate HIV/AIDS Awareness Day  on Friday, April 24, at 10:30 a.m., in the Flag Room at Dallas City Hall, 1500 Marilla, Room 6DN.

HIV/AIDS Awareness Day in the City of Dallas highlights the impact of the epidemic on the local community, particularly senior citizens, and encourages prevention through early testing and treatment. Nearly 20,000 people are living with HIV/AIDS in the Dallas Metroplex, and that number is projected to be more than 25,000 by 2012. One in three persons in the Dallas area who are newly diagnosed with HIV will progress to AIDS within just one month of diagnosis.
