I just received the following statement via e-mail from Lt. Andy Harvey, who’s over media relations at the Dallas Police Department. I’d contacted Harvey at the beginning of the week to find out what Chief David Kunkle thinks about the idea of making DPD’s LGBT liaison position full time. Here’s what Harvey said:
“I apologize for not getting back with you sooner. I did meet briefly with Chief Kunkle who is definitely open to the suggestion. We want to make sure every segment of the community is taken care of. He appreciates the great job Officer Martin does on a daily basis. I know he’d be more than willing to discuss this further.”
