A public lewdness charge against former WFAA anchor Brad Hawkins has been rejected by the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office, according to Hawkins’ attorney, Peter Schulte.
Hawkins, now a spokesman for Southwest Airlines, was arrested in April following an incident at Flag Pole Hill Park near White Rock Lake.
Schulte told Dallas Voice the DA’s office has elected not to prosecute Hawkins.
“He didn’t commit a crime,” Schulte said, calling it a “false arrest.”
“That conduct as alleged by the police department does not constitute a crime,” Schulte added.
A false arrest. By the DPD. Go figure. As I keep saying, if you’re not committing a crime, the DPD will simply make one up. If the department could be eliminated altogether, it would (a) eliminate the city’s budget deficit, (b) put an end to most of the organized crime in the city and (c) kill off what is arguably the most corrupt law enforcement agency on the planet.
Only reason why it was dropped is because he was a public figure .. anybody else that goes thru this kind of crime has to wait almost a year to 18 months before trial and then go thru all the vents of the horrific terror again 🙁
I agree that he did not face prosecution because of his public status. I know many men arrested in the parks and they have to register as sex offenders. When we use to roller blade on the katy trail and around the Lake…Mr. Hawkins was ALWAYS out sporting his bike shorts trying to get noticed (and it worked cuz it was VERY noticable). Like any other park cruising queen…IM sure he has been bent over a few bushes morethan once. He just got caught this time. So very sad these handsome men feel the need to go out and cruise parks for sex. The handsome and the hung are obviously not very intelligent.
About five years ago or more Brad did an interview with me on WFAA. I had chased news people at this station for a long time time, three years, to do a story on how it took 20 years of my being ill be fore doctors found i had mercury poisoning from silver dental fillings. Brad did the story and did a marvelous, marvelous, job. I will always be grateful to him for taking a subject that needed so badly to be brought to public attention which can affect everyone. I guess maybe I am a little shocked that he is gay, but that is his choice and his business. i am a heterosexual female. I frankly think that he was busted for what sounds like an act that should not have been a stupid cops business. This was too adults after all, Brad did not rape the guy. It sounds like he was set up. If this was a rape or a child being molested it would be a different story. All I have to say is i will always be thankful to Brad for reporting my story. WHen he and the WFAA cameraman came to my house, they were very nice, Brad was an exceptionally nice man. I guess i think this sexual act of his was kind of dumb. If he was this horny he should have taken it inside an apartment, ect. Personally I am sick of these stupid vice cops intruding on consenting adults lives.gay or not gay.
