Actor Neil Patrick Harris is gay and wants to quell any rumors to the contrary.
“[I] am quite proud to say that I am a very content gay man living my life to the fullest,” Harris tells People magazine’s Web site.
The 33-year-old actor said he was motivated to disclose his sexuality because of recent “speculation and interest in my private life and relationships.”
Harris stars on the CBS comedy “How I Met Your Mother.” He started on TV as a teen, playing the namesake doctor on the series “Doogie Howser, M.D.”
Andy Dick reveals his villainous “‘Ambition’
Expect audiences to cheer on the bad guy in “Blonde Ambition,” a new workplace comedy starring Jessica Simpson as the heroine and outrageous bisexual comic Andy Dick as the villain.
The movie, one that’s being touted as a “loose remake” of the Oscar-nominated 1988 comedy “Working Girl,” will attempt to convince ticket buyers that Simpson is capable of wearing sexy outfits and acting at the same time.
Luke Wilson plays the romantic lead opposite Simpson no doubt channeling whatever he did opposite Reese Witherspoon in the similarly titled “Legally Blonde” and Dick has signed on as an “evil secretary” whose goal is to torment his former “Employee of the Month” co-star.
Shooting starts later this month with an “Ambition” to be in theaters next summer.
“‘Will & Grace’ creators tout new sitcom
And they say Hollywood has run out of ideas. Best friends and “Will & Grace” creators Max Mutchnick (who’s gay) and David Kohan (who’s straight) have sold CBS on their new sitcom idea. The premise? It’s about two sitcom creators, one gay and one straight, who are best friends.
Oh, and for that all-important under-35 viewership, the show will also revolve around the duo’s “hot young assistants.”
So, to recap, that’s four characters, anchored by a gay person and a straight person just like “Will & Grace.”
One can’t really blame Kohan and Mutchnick for returning to their own well: “W&G” lasted eight years, while their subsequent creations “Good Morning, Miami,” “Twins” and “Four Kings” were all significantly less successful.
The duo will write and executive produce the new show. Then they’ll pray that we watch it.
“‘Legally Blonde’ the stage musical?
Hollywood’s invasion of Broadway continues, with more movies getting turned into stage musicals.
Following in the footsteps of “The Producers,” “Hairspray” and the upcoming “Sister Act” will be “Legally Blonde,” the hilarious story of a California sorority girl who conquers Harvard Law School without abandoning her sense of style.
Based on the hit comedy from out director Robert Luketic, the stage version will star Laura Bell Bundy no stranger to campy musicals, with a resume that includes “Hairspray,” “Wicked” and “Ruthless!” as Elle Woods and Tony winner Michael Rupert (“Sweet Charity,” “Falsettos”) as her law professor.
“Legally Blonde” will deliver opening arguments in San Francisco on Jan. 23, and then appear before the Broadway jury on April 3.
Kelley works “‘The Wedding Store’
The man behind “Ally McBeal” and “Boston Legal” is back and he’s got marriage on his mind.
Fox has committed to a 13-episode midseason series from David E. Kelley called “The Wedding Store,” a romantic sitcom about a group of wedding planners doing whatever it takes to keep their clients together for life or at least until the limo pulls away from the reception.
There are no stated plans for the series to feature any gay wedding-planner characters or same-sex-nuptial plotlines, but it seems unlikely not to mention completely unrealistic that it wouldn’t. And it’s not like the show’s going to air on PAX.
No premiere date has been set, but look for it to walk down the aisle sometime in the next few months.
