Sterling Smith

A celebration of the life of Sterling Smith will take place at Alexandre’s, 4026 Cedar Springs Road at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6.
The funeral will be held atĀ First Baptist Church, 105 S. Carroll St. in Athens at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 9. (From Dallas, take U.S. 175. Carroll Street is one block past the main square. Make a right off 175.)
Smith, who was the manager of Alexandre’s, died in his sleep on Nov. 2.
Dallas Voice received calls questioning the cause of death. Police still have the cause of death listed as “unexplained death,” but told Dallas Voice there are no signs of trauma on the body. Lab tests will take eight to 10 weeks.
Here’s how Alexandre’s owner Lee Daugherty described Smith in the invite to the Friday celebration:

We have mourned, now it is time to celebrate the wonderful life of Sterling Smith. The organ player, the minister, the biologist, the loving friend, the dedicated manager, the sarcastic joker and much more. We will band together as a family and raise a glass and toast our great gift for knowing an incredible man.
