Cedar Springs Merchants Association will be meeting at noon on July 18 at the Round-Up Saloon. Merchants and businesses beyond just Cedar Springs Road who are interested in keeping Oak Lawn vibrant are welcome to participate, said CSMA president Donnesh Amrollah. He said this will be the first meeting of the merchants association since COVID.

Among the topics that will be discussed are safety and security. Among other concerns, he said, is lowering the temperature of political arguments along the Strip with people who show up to antagonize.

Upcoming, ongoing and new events will be among the topics of the meeting. Wine Walk occurs monthly and Market on the Strip takes place each Sunday at S4 and along Throckmorton. The Pride Parade on Cedar Springs Road is scheduled for Sept. 15. Grand marshals should be named within the next two weeks and other information will be announced. Also, Amrollah said that he’d like to hear new ideas to keep the Strip vital.

Beautification of the Strip has always been a concern of the merchants association. That includes street clean ups. Amrollah said the storm drains have been getting clogged with litter. But planting trees has also been a result of the work of the bars, stores and restaurants along Cedar Springs.

Amrollah encouraged anyone with an interest in any of these areas to join the discussion at the Round-Up on Thursday.
