When Buju Banton came to Dallas, his 50 fans were met with 40 protesters and 40 Dallas police officers.
The Buju tour has moved to Florida and according to Equality Florida, the promoter has lost over $100,000. Concerts were canceled in St.Petersburg, Orlando and Tallahassee.
In Dallas, the concert was canceled by a large, downtown venue and picked up by a small Deep Ellum Club. In Tampa, a large club also canceled, but The Cuban Club, a straight bar in their gay neighborhood, picked up the singer. However, after protests, the club refused to allow Banton to perform the song advocating killing gays people.
His Miami concert simply failed to sell many tickets.

Not sure why the names of the venues were omitted here, but I think it’s relevant to the story that it was House of Blues that canceled the original concert, and the Palm Beach Club in Deep Ellum that allowed that homophobe to perform. We should know the names of these venues so we know where to spend our money and where not to.
Thanks for adding.
And when I tried to contact the owner of Trincity (as the sign on Palm Beach Club reads) for comment, he claimed they sold out and there was no protest.
When did the club claim it sold out and that there was no protest? Near as o could tell only 30-40 went in and when I counted the number of protesters around 7:30 there were around 30.
I contacted the owner of the club for a comment after the event. He told me in an email that there was no protest and that the club sold out. I sent him pictures in return.
This is very good “Instant Tea!” If that Miami “Reggae Bash 2009” lost over $100,000 it seems almost too good to be true. Maybe there is justice in this world!
As a reminder, Global Vybz Entertainment promoter Andrew Minott, who put on the “Reggae Bash 2009” show in Miami, said: “Leave all judgment up to God. Read the Bible. I’m a Christian. If a man lay with a man, you can fill in the blank.”
