1. Sarah Palin released a video statement (above) this morning in response to the Tucson shooting, saying her decision to put rifle crosshairs on a map over Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords’ district had absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the incident at all. How could it have, right? But why so defensive then? And what better way for Palin to address a shooting that targeted Giffords, who’s Jewish, than by using an anti-semitic metaphor? Palin says those who link the tragedy to her violent rhetoric are committing “blood libel” — which refers to an accusation from the Middle Ages that Jews killed Christian children to use their blood to make matzoh for Passover. Palin is right, this incident was more about mental illness than rhetoric — until you consider the fact that the ones spewing the rhetoric are mentally ill. (Politico)
2. The governor of Arizona signed emergency legislation to prohibit Westboro Baptist Church from picketing within 300 feet of the funeral for a 9-year-old girl who was killed in the Tucson shooting. The legislation was initiated by openly gay State Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Tucson, who said this: “I’m a strong advocate of the First Amendment and the bottom line is this, Fred Phelps and his group of people can still spew their hate if they want. They just don’t get to do it close to the families that are grieving. They have to be farther away.” (ABC 15)
3. The Advocate lists Minneapolis as the gayest city in America, and Texas is shut out of the top 15. Have we mentioned that The Advocate sucks?
Palin basically says ‘let responsibility lay with those who are responsible’ yet she refuses to claim responsibility for her half witted statements. As a public figure she should STOP and think before she speaks. Yes, all Americans have the right to speak their minds and beliefs but we are accountable for the end results of our words. She continually criticizes the press and others for their ‘words’ yet she feels she can pop-off with half thought-out statements and later claims she was misunderstood, misquoted, etc. Can she not see the irony of her statements? Of course she cannot; she is a half baked alaskan!
Those who plan to comment, before you do, what did you say if anything about all of these?

Nuff said.
What about lipstick on a pig! Yea the Advocate sucks. I think they rated by people who buy the subscriptions to their Republican Rag. Dallas is very gay and Houston has a Gay Mayor.
The westboro baptist church isn’t even a church, its a hate group. Their members need serious mental help. This hate group states in plain english “if your not in our church…then god hates you”. They also hate the gay community and they never did anything wrong. They hate Catholics (and i’m catholic) and we have never did any wrong to them. There are less then 100 members of this so called “church” according to numerous sources and guess what..there over a 1,000,000,000 catholics in this world (1/6th of the whole world population). Yeah im pretty sure these people are mentally unstable.
As a personal opinion…i believe that the wbs be burned down and the members be impriosioned and get life long mental help. This hate group is the real disgrace to America.
Debra, you are right. But name me one liberal who has murdered or attempted to murder a politician, blew up a building w/ innocent children in it, killed doctors, set off bombs @ the olympics, or fly a plane into a IRS building. I could go on and on.
There are lunatics w/ both parties. And both parties need to be held accountable for their words and actions. But for some reason the Foxs, Becks, Palins, and Limbaughs of the world seem to spew the most hate. I.E Palins crosshairs. And why is she so compelled to remove the crosshairs from her website the day of this mass shooting?
Jared is responsible for this horrific crime. But the crosshairs, targeted, and the reloaders of the world own a small part.
Being gay I can say this! You want to talk about people with mental issues, walk into any gay bar look around and listen to peoples views and opinions. For once gay people need to shut up and listen to someone for a change, you might learn something. Gay people want to be accepted unconditionally but are some of the biggest haters in the world.
