City crews are in Oak Lawn right now removing the rainbow crosswalks at the intersection of Oak Lawn Avenue and Cedar Springs Road.
North Texas LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Tony Vedda was on the street watching as the crosswalks are destroyed. He said, “We are very disappointed in our partners at the city not communicating effectively with us on the removal of the crosswalks.
“The city of Dallas’ removal of the rainbow crosswalk along Cedar Springs is not occurring in isolation — it reflects a broader political and regulatory climate that is increasingly targeting public expressions of support for the LGBTQ+ community across our state,” Vedda added. “Even though the crosswalks are being removed, this community will not be erased.”
Chad Mantooth with Dallas Voice is on the scene, documenting the activity in photos. More to come.
