Local news outlets are reporting breaking news that police and mall security evacuated NorthPark Center mall in Dallas “for security reasons” between noon and 12:30 p.m.

WFAA notes that Dallas Police Department announced the evacuation via social media, and “A security official at NorthPark Mall also confirmed that the mall was evacuated for security reasons.”

Fox 4 News has reported that the evacuation came after someone activated a fire alarm in the mall.

It appears that no further information is available at this time about why the fire alarm was activated or just what the “security incident” entailed. But police are urging drivers to avoid the area for the time being, and Fox 4 has quoted as mall spokesperson as saying, “We hope to be back open for business shortly.”
