Guitar goddess
Marissa Paternoster is rather diminutive compared to her bandmates in Screaming Females, but the out frontwoman is a guitar giant. Six strings don’t have a chance against her shredding skills. The punk trio scored major buzz with its fifth album Ugly and recent gigs at SXSW. Now we get to hear them scream for ourselves.

Chihuly in effect
The marriage of Dale Chihuly and the Dallas Arboretum seems like an obvious one. His gorgeous glass sculptures against a natural landscape are a match made in heaven. Chihuly at the Arboretum opens this weekend and runs through Nov. 10, so you have some time to see this magnificence up close. And trust, it really is.
