Sugarbakers gets spoofed by Uptown Players at Rose Room
Jamie Morris’ latest parody of a TV show is rolling along at Station 4, with a cast of men in drag — just what you’d expect to see at the Rose Room. The show gets a long run with Morris himself as the matriarch in this camp adaptation of the sassy ’80s sitcom
Designing Women — called, of course, Re-Designing Women. Fasten your girdles, fellas!

DEETS:
The Rose Room at Station 4
3911 Cedar Springs Road.

Through May 19.

It’s men in tights in Waxahachie!
We wouldn’t exactly call what you see walking around at Scarborough Faire cross-dressing, but really, it’s just drag of a different kind. Cool, often hot nerds show up for the annual Renaissance Festival in tights and codpieces and jester hats to enjoy the beautiful weather; fun food like steak on a stake and huge turkey legs; nifty vendors of fantasy artisan crafts from candles to die-cast chess seters; and clever entertainers, including men covered in mud and large-breasted women in bustiers. It’s a grandly enjoyable trip back a few hundred years.

DEETS:
Scarborough Renaissance Festival Grounds
2511 FM 66, Waxahachie.

Weekends through May 27, 10 a.m.–7 p.m.
$10–$22.
