Erykah Badu headlines fundraising show for Lone Star Circus … musically and aerially
The Lone Star Circus has arrived every Christmas season for the past nine years, and to start its 10th season, none other than Erykah Badu will be headlining a fundraiser to kick off the new lineup, which the year will even travel to Moody Gardens on Galveston Island. Badu will not only be singing at the event — she’ll also be performing her own aerial act! Is there nothing she can’t do?

Scrooge looks like a lady: Dallas Theater Center reinvents Dickens
The Dallas Theater Center has long believed in race-blind casting, so we’ve had a black Ebenener Scrooge before. But gender-blind? You betcha. Sally Vahle — Dallas Voice’s Actor of the Year for 2015 and one of North Texas’ finest thespians — will take on the iconic popularizer of holiday humbuggery in the DTC’s annual incarnation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. It’s nice to see at least one woman getting a job she deserves this November. (And for the ninth consecutive year, DTC will partner with the North Texas Food Bank to raise money to feed those in need.)
