Edgy girl band CSS brings its new sound to House of Blues

The lesbian girl band CSS has changed its sounds since moving from their home base in Brazil up to the sunny shores of Southern California, as their latest album, Planta, can attest. But the group is still on the cutting edge of modern music,

Lovely Uranus back in orbit in ‘Forever Lovely’

What’s it like to be the best third-rate drag queen in Dallas? Lovely Uranus knows. The campy character, embodied by Mark-Brian Sonna, is back in a new show by playwright Alejandro de la Costa, and Lovely enjoys a series of adventures — all with a queer appeal.

Big Bad Gina performs in Fort Worth

North Texas is flush with girl groups this weekend. Straight off their victory in the Battle of the Bands at Sue Ellen’s, the queer Big Bad Gina — recently the opening act for Indigo Girls — returns to Fort Worth for a concert courtesy of Open Door Productions. They perform their big, round sound at the MCC Agape Church on Saturday.
