Kitchen Dog enters Oscar race with ‘Wilde/Earnest’
While DTC is gussying up The School for Wives at the Kalita (see the review on Page 23), Kitchen Dog is giving audiences its own take on another classic. Company member Lee Trull adapted and directed Wilde/Earnest, his take on Oscar Wilde’s undisputed masterwork that gives a sexy, effervescent remix to the quintessential comedy of manners set in today’s hipster culture.

Dallas Opera continues season with ‘La Boheme,’ including stadium simulcast
While Wilde/Earnest is plumbing modern hipsters, Puccini already examined the 19th century version — known as the belle epoque of Paris’ Latin Quarter — in one of the most popular of all operas, La Boheme. This romantic look at the doomed relationship between the consumptive Mimi and the charismatic Rodolfo stars Ana Maria Martinez and Bryan Hymel as the star-crossed lover and out “barihunk” Jonathan Beyer as the mercurial Marcello. In addition to the in-person performances, you can also see a live simulcast of the March 21 matinee for free at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

Savor Dallas launches 11th year of wine-and-foodgasms
