‘Gay Marriage Plays’ begins run at Out of the Loop
WaterTower Theatre’s Out of the Loop Fringe Festival is already under way, but it really gets rolling this weekend, with Saturday and Sunday chock fill of shows — many with gay interest. In fact, plan it right, and Saturday you can see gay scribe David Parr’s Pluto Is Listening at 5 p.m., gay cabaret star Walter Lee at 7 and Q Live’s entry, Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays at 8. But don’t worry if you miss one or two — all (and more of gay interest) will be performed throughout the fest.

TBRU 18 gets under way
Even though the major parties don’t get rolling until next weekend, bears from across Texas and the U.S. will come out of hibernation by Thursday to help kick off Texas Bear Round-Up 18: Casino Bear Royale. After you register at the host hotel, take time to tour North Texas wineries, participate in a welcome-night costume contest or cool down for a pool party open to bears at 10 p.m.
