Regional premiere of a cross-dressing comedy from Uptown Players

Life doesn’t always go the way you expect. Like, when you’re an Elvis impersonator, you don’t think that means you’re basically a drag queen. But that’s the discovery Casey, a struggling singer in the Florida Panhandle, begins to realize. The Legend of Georgia McBride is a play with music, and that music is sung by Kyle Igneczi, who previously gender-bended in the title role of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. It isn’t even Christmas, and Uptown Players is already into its second show of the 2017–18 season! Directed by Bruce R. Coleman.

TCC gets into the holiday spirit with Snowflakes Christmas concert

Snowflakes get a bad rap since last year’s election. But at the Turtle Creek Chorale, they embrace snowflakes — because nothing sets the tone for a Christmas concert quite so well. For the company’s annual concert, they pull out all the stops, with beautiful music and lots of campy holiday cheers, including performances by vocalist Jodi C. Wright and a set by the Houston Chamber Ringers. Everyone — even a snowflake — is welcome!
