A fire set in the alley behind Alexandre’s bar, in the 4000 block of Cedar Springs Road, early Friday morning, Nov. 29, has damaged a Roswell Street house that backs up to the same alley.

Dallas Voice has requested official information on the incident from Dallas Police and Dallas Fire Rescue.

Video and photos from security cameras overlooking the alley, provided to Dallas Voice by the manager on duty at Cedar Springs Cigarette and Tobacco Shop, 4030 Cedar Springs Road, show an individual — dressed in dark clothing with white tennis shoes and long reddish hair, wearing headphones, white-rimmed sunglasses and a black backpack — walk down the alley then hesitate before crossing the alley and kneeling to start a fire at what appears to be a trash can or a trash pile on the ground.

As the suspect walks away toward the far end of the alley, the fire then blazes up higher, eventually beginning to burn the fence that separates the Roswell Street houses from the alley.

Times stamps on the videos and photos show the suspect enter the alley at 3:53 a.m., and then actually set the fire at about 4:14 a.m.

Photos taken later in the day show severe damage to the fence and to the back of the house on the other side of the fence.

Dallas Voice is still waiting on confirmation from Dallas Police and Dallas Fire Rescue, but according to information provided by Alexandre’s owner Lee Daugherty, employees at the nearby Valero convenience store and gas said the suspect is a black male who frequents the area and who often wears different wigs.
