Lesbian Houston attorney Ann Johnson trails after early voting in her bid to become one of two openly LGBT state legislators in Texas, according to Harris County election results.

District 134 Republican incumbent Rep. Sarah Davis captured 27,204 early votes, or 57 percent, to Johnson’s 20,185, or 43 percent.

Johnson is vying to join Mary Gonzalez, an LGBT Democrat who has no Republican opponent in El Paso’s District 75. But it’s looking more and more like Gonzalez will be the only out member of the Legislature next year.
