This morning, I came across Adam‘s blog, This Boy Elroy. Looks like the hunky blogger used to live in Big D, but relocated to San Francisco not too long ago.
Anyway, here’s a cool entry about the tacos at Fuel City, which is that gigantic gas station at I-35 near the Trinity River.
Truth be told, Adam moved to San Francisco in order to complete his second stage of his sexual reassignment process. Living as a woman. Openly.
Very cool blog. Very funny dude.
Didn’t there use to be a punk band in Dallas named His Boy Elroy?
Truth be told, Fuel City’s tacos, while good, aren’t the greatest. Interestingly enough, Fuel Town (copycat much?) over at 35 and Inwood, headed toward the Crate and Barrel Outlet, has tacos that will, in the words of the infamous Dave White, “melt your face off”. And they have some pretty tasty tortas, too.
And disregard Brian Nesbitt’s inevitable raves about Fuel City. He don’t know.
rich, you ignorant slut. you know that fuel city is the best.
Despite bikini clad girls in the pool and a karaoke machine in the parking lot, Fuel $hitty is not the best for tacos. Ambience? Totally. There’s no equal. Tacos? Nah. Cesar’s Tacos in the Cliff easily beats them but so far, nothing has bested Fuel Town.
By the way, we just started our Taqueria Tour 2009!
hey jack e jett,
i also remembered a band called his boy elroy but not from dallas and i didn’t remember them as punk. turns out the one that i remember is from seattle and originally brian vander ark from the verve pipe was in it. duncan sheik also played on their debut album (which is how i got turned on to them to begin with. duncan is fantastic!).
on a related note, nimbus the great (my online handle for 15 years and my former dfw band) was elroy jetson’s favorite superhero.
you now know way more than you wanted to about 60’s cartoons and band names.
Cool site
