ASD–A Home for Life presents Blues & Barbecue from 5:30-9:30 p.m. on Sept. 12 at Gleneagles Country Club in Plano. The evening will feature live blues, barbecue, entertainment, and opportunities to support the mission of ASD. Main event tickets are $75.
Blues & Barbecue brings supporters and friends together for an evening of live blues, barbecue and community — all in support of ASD’s work providing housing, supportive services and pathways to greater health and stability.
For ASD, the evening is also an opportunity to introduce more North Texans to a simple idea: housing is more than housing. A safe, stable home can be the foundation for better health, opportunity, and a stronger community.
Dallas-based keynote speaker, health advocate and community connector Kimberly Alexander will emcee the event.
Alexander, founder of KimCONNECTS, has built a reputation for bringing people, businesses and causes together. Her work and community involvement have included cancer and health advocacy, philanthropy, media, and service within the Dallas community, including involvement with DIFFA/Dallas.
“Kim has an incredible ability to connect with people, and she understands that health is about much more than what happens in a doctor’s office,” said Traswell C. Alexander brings a deeply personal connection to health advocacy. Following her late husband Elijah Alexander’s battle with multiple myeloma, she became an advocate for cancer patients, caregivers, and greater awareness of health disparities. She has continued using her voice and relationships to bring attention to causes affecting families and communities.
Now she’s bringing that energy to ASD’s Blues & Barbecue.
