Electronica musican and DJ Logic1000 has confirmed her second studio album Confirmation!, with today’s release of her new single “The Only One.” The track is collaboration with genderqueer artist Christine and the Queens (nee Rahim Redcar). Along with the single, Logic1000 has released a video. Confirmation! is out Oct. 2 via Therapy/Because Music.
Directed by filmmaker Dora Paphides and choreographed by Lucy Brooks, the video stars Redcar alongside a dance troupe in a celebration of connection and the generations shaping the future.
The pair first connected when Poulter remixed Christine and the Queens’ “La vita nuova” in 2020, before reconnecting years later for Confirmation! Despite collaborating remotely, the two had never met in person until the filming of “The Only One.”
Christine and the Queens said in today’s announcement, “It was a true honor and inspiration for me to work with Logic1000. I immediately jumped on my mic and felt this urge to sing to the younger generations, the one who will have to take over the sorry burning world our elders legated them. This song is dedicated to them, the young who will change this world.”
He continued, “Music has to be a vessel for hope, and it’s with pride I give my entire trust to the new dreamers, the new builders of humanity. You are the only ones. Your power is respected and revered by all the artists and thinkers of this world. We trust you to make that change. With love.”
The video work due to its simplicty: A grand ballroom, cool choreography and a catchy dance track all come together in sublime form for an energetic four minutes.
