Aug. 29: Pride101 Community Conversation
Pride 101 presents “Let’s Talk About Parenting LGBTQIA+ Kids! Loving & Advocating for your Kids, Loving and Caring for Yourself,” a community conversation for parents, caregivers, family members, educators and community allies, beginning at 11 a.m. at Guitars & Growlers, 581 W. Campbell Road in Richardson. Featured speakers are Resource Center Community Wellness Program Manager Tres Brown, Prism Health North Texas Community Engagement Coordinator Jurnee Richard, PFLAG Dallas Board Member Lucy Ford and counselor Brian Kennedy of the Kennedy Center for Mental Health, Advocacy and Education. Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum hosts a screening from 7-9 p.m. of They Fight With Cameras, narrated by Liev Schreiber and featuring archival wartime footage of deocrated U.S. Army Signal Corps combat cameraman Walter Rosenblum, along with his photographs, never-before-see motion picture footage and recently discovered letters to his first wife. Pride in Dallas hosts REVIVE, a Pride revival, from 1-6 p.m. at Cathedral of Hope, 5910 Cedar Springs Road, centered on healing, liberation, joy and spiritual renewal — reclaiming sacred space for LGBTQ+ people, allies, families and seekers with a tone that is vibrant, gospel-rooted, affirming and unapologetically hopeful.
