North Texas may hear choirs of lesbian voices — and the voices of music fans of all stripes — coming from Texas Trust on Wednesday, Oct. 8. That’s because the sapphic goddesses above have given queer folks a respite from the daily awful news and politics.
As a gift — particularly to queer women of DFW — Melissa Etheridge and the Indigo Girls co-headline the Texas Trust CU Theatre in Grand Prairie for a night of classic hits and lesbian pride.
And yes, we are generalizing about lesbian women and these two music pioneers — but why not? These three women together for one night will bring a healthy crowd of women — and womyn — together to rejoice and sing.
Following their successful run of summer 2024 co-headline dates, the Grammy-winning icons reunited again for this year’s Yes We Are Tour. Touring since July, Etheridge and the Indigo Girls have played the West Coast and throughout the Midwest already, and now they are coming to North Texas on Wednesday. And both the legendary duet and the iconic solo artist bring the catalog of music from their decades on the scene and in the spotlight.

Etheridge has so far dropped 16 studio albums, earning platinum album status five times and gold album status twice. She has sold 13 million albums in the United States alone.
And the Indigo Girls — Emily Saliers and Amy Ray — have recorded 16 studio albums (seven gold, four platinum, one double platinum) and sold more than 15 million records over the course of their four-decade career that began in clubs around their native Atlanta.
“We joke about being old, but what is old when it comes to music? We’re still a bar band at heart,” Saliers said back when the Yes We Are Tour was first announced. “While our lyrics and writing approach may change, our passion for music feels the same as it did when we were 25 years old.
“As time has gone on, our audience has become more expansive and diverse, giving me a sense of joy.”
We hear you, Saliers. It may not be all queer women at the show, but you can bet they will be in the majority.
