Resource Center just sent out an Action Alert to its supporters, urging them to contact their representatives in the U.S. House to voice opposition to the House Appropriations Committee’s funding bill for fiscal year 2026. The bill “proposes to cut domestic HIV care, treatment and prevention programs,” which would significantly impact Resource Center and other LGBTQ+ centers across the country.

“With the committee set to meet today, we need you to take urgent action to oppose these cuts,” Resource Center’s Action Alert urged.

“This bill decimates HIV prevention in the United States and cuts critical Ryan White HIV/AIDS Care funds by 20 percent,” the Action Alert press release warns. “Eliminating all HIV prevention could mean the end of state and local testing and surveillance programs, education initiatives and links to lifesaving care and treatment — including PrEP. These cuts will translate into an increased number of new HIV infections which are counterproductive and will be costlier to treat in the long run.

“We cannot go back to the dark days of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Take action now!”
