Texas State Rep. Jessica Gonzalez said Thursday, Aug,. 28, during debate on anti-trans bathroom bill SB 8 that she has been questioned over using the women's restroom in the state Capitol because of the way she looks.

State Rep. Jessica González, the Dallas Democrat who chairs the Legislature’s LGBTQ Caucus, on Wednesday, July 23, filed House Concurrent Resolution 4 calling on the U.S. Department of Justice to release the complete Jeffrey Epstein investigative file.

González filed the resolution during the first week of the Texas Legislature’s special session and just a day after U.S. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson he was ending the current congressional session a week and sending lawmakers home for the summer break .

The day González filed HCR 4 is also same day that the Wall Street Journal reported that Donald Trump is definitely named in the Epstein files, and that Attorney General Pam Bondi told Trump back in May that he was named in the files.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott ostensibly called the special session to address flood relief and prevention efforts following the catastrophic flooding that recently hit Central Texas, killing more than 130 people. But most politicos say he called the special session, after being pressured by Trump to do so, specifically to create wildly gerrymandered districts in an effort to help the GOP maintain control of Congress in the 2026 midterm elections.

Johnson shut down Congress early to avoid Democrats there being able to force a vote on releasing the Epstein files.
