FROM STAFF REPORTS

Prism Health North Texas recently announced the addition of two new providers to its team: Dr. Dan Nguyen, M.D., and Kevin R. Johnson, PA-C. Both are accepting new patients for primary care services.

Dr. Dan Nguyen
Nguyen is dual board-certified in addiction medicine and family medicine and maintains his certification by the American Academy of HIV Medicine as an HIV expert. He will primarily serve patients at the Uptown Physicians Group, 2801 Lemmon Ave., Ste. 400, in Dallas.
Born and raised in Plano, Nguyen completed his bachelor’s degree at Austin College and was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society when awarded his Doctorate of Medicine from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.

He completed his family medicine residency at the University of Texas Dell Medical School and has pursued expertise in HIV treatment, prevention with PrEP, gender affirming care, sexual wellness and general primary care needs for those with or without health insurance throughout his career.

“While I am compassionate toward all patients that come to see me, I find joy in those that want to build a doctor-patient relationship,’ says Nguyen. “Building a sense of community is so important, and that’s why I strive to be a role model for the LGBTQ+ community.

“For instance, I’m here for you and your medical needs at Uptown Physicians Group, but you’ll also see me on stage performing with the Turtle Creek Chorale. Prism Health’s mission aligns with my own: together, we’re building a stronger, healthier community.”

Kevin R. Johnson
Johnson is a certified physician’s assistant serving patients at PHNTX’s Oak Lawn Health Center, 2801 Lemmon Ave., Ste. 400, in Dallas. He is dedicated to delivering compassionate, comprehensive care to a diverse community and brings clinical expertise in psychiatry, internal medicine, HIV care, and men’s health.

Originally from Missouri, Johnson completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois and went on to earn his masters of science in physician assistant studies from Missouri State University. He is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and is passionate about providing affirming, patient-centered care that supports both physical and mental well-being.

“I believe everyone deserves to be seen, heard, and cared for, no matter their story, background or identity,” Johnson said. “As a physician assistant at Prism Health North Texas, I’m committed to creating a safe, affirming space where my patients, especially those in the LGBTQ+ community and those experiencing homelessness, can access judgement-free, whole-person care.

“I’m also a total gym nerd and love working with my patients on ways to maximize their fitness goals!”

PHNTX CEO Dr. John Carlo said his organization is “thrilled with the addition of Dr. Nguyen and Kevin Johnson to Prism Health North Texas. Their joining our staff expands our service capabilities, allowing us to provide quality, accessible and equitable healthcare for more North Texans.”
