The Eugene McDermott Foundation has issued an $80,000 challenge grant to Flutter & Fizz, the Gay and Lesbian Fund of Dallas’ upcoming event highlighting Dallas Zoo’s new “I Spy Butterflies” exhibit, happening Saturday, April 19, from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the zoo.
Sign up now to be listed as a sponsor. Individual tickets go on sale tomorrow (Tuesday, April 1). The event is limited to 350 guests.
Those attending the event will be among the first to experience the new walk-through butterfly exhibit set in a lush indoor landscape and filled with hundreds of fluttering beauties and vibrant blooms. The event will also including both live and silent auctions featuring fine art, dining and a luxury vacation to Montenegro among other items.
GLFD hopes to raise $250,000 in support of the Dallas Zoo’s major capital campaign to develop new habitats and educational facilities.
“At this level of giving, we have the opportunity to secure meaningful naming rights, ensuring that our presence makes a lasting impact,” a GLFD statement about the event notes. “In today’s political climate, we believe it is more important than ever to reaffirm our community’s role in society and in shaping a more inclusive future.
“We also hope that future generations of young people questioning their sexuality or gender identity feel a sense of validation and belonging when they see the Gay & Lesbian Fund for Dallas proudly represented on the donor wall.”
The Gay & Lesbian Fund for Dallas is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, and proceeds raised through Flutter & Fizz will be contributed to the Dallas Zoo.
