About 500 people attended Black Tie Dinner’s “Sneak Peek Party” at 7Senses in the Design District on Thursday, where dinner co-chairs announced that Zach Wahls and Dustin Lance Black will be at this year’s event.

Wahls will recieve the Elizabeth Birch Award at the annual fundraiser on Nov. 2. Wahls, best remembered as the 19-year-old YouTube phenom who addressed the Iowa Legislature about growing up with two moms, is the award’s youngest recipient. The co-chairs of the event stated that “Zach is thrilled” to receive the award.

Black, winner of the Oscar for Best Screenplay for Milk, will be a guest speaker at Black Tie. Black has become one of Hollywood’s  pre-eminent figures and is outspoken in the fight for LGBT rights and marriage equality.

With 500 people in attendance, the Sneak Peek Party was a rousing success as people sipped on cocktails and snacked on hors d’oeuvres. Thunderous applause filled 7Senses as videos of Wahls and Black were shown.

Black Tie is scheduled for Nov. 2. For more information visit BlackTie.org.
