Halloween2
The annual Halloween Block Party on Cedar Springs Road — the biggest street party in Texas — is Saturday night, Oct. 27, in the 3900 block of Cedar Springs Road, between Oak Lawn Avenue and Knight Street.
There will be eight booths on the street offering food, beer and refreshments. In the parking lot behind S4, there will be a live DJ and drag stars from The Rose Room performing. And the highlight of the night will be costume catwalk down the middle of Cedar Springs.
The party is free and all ages are welcome to attend, although, of course, sale of alcoholic beverages is restricted to those ages 21 and older.
And if you get a little chilly out on the street — or maybe, you want an adult beverage other than beer — head on in to one of the clubs. They are all sure to have plenty of fun planned for the evening.
Remember, parking is always at a premium in Oak Lawn, and will be even more so on Saturday night, with a huge crowd ghouls and spooks expected for the party. There is a paid parking lot on Throckmorton Street, just off Cedar Springs. But Uber, Lyft or an old-fashioned taxi maybe the best option.
The Halloween fun continues on Tuesday night, Oct. 31 — which is the actual Halloween night. All the Caven bars — JR.’s, Sue Ellen’s TMC: The Mining Company will all have costume contests, with pre-registration starting at 9:30 p.m. and all the winners from each club converging on S4 at midnight for the finals.
The Round-Up Saloon is also having a costume contest on Halloween night, beginning at 11 p.m.
Most of the other clubs have costume contests and other Halloween-themed fun planned all weekend long. Check out our Scene, Gay Agenda and Calendar listings for details.
