Free screening of ‘Raid of the Rainbow Lounge’
On the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots,
police in Fort Worth recklessly raided a new gay bar, sparking a national debate on police sensitivity to gay issues … again. Local filmmaker Robert L. Camina’s Raid of the Rainbow Lounge, a documentary of the aftermath, will receive a free screening at the Magnolia, sponsored by WaterTower Theatre, which later this month will produce Hit the Wall, a play about Stonewall.
Both the film’s and the play’s director will be present for a post-screening Q&A.

It’s a Peter Pan-demic! ‘Finding Neverland’ opens in Dallas
What is it with this Peter Pan obession? In addition to the original, there’s Peter and the Starcatcher, Hook, Pan, Fly, a circus show and more. Included in the “more” is Finding Neverland, an Oscar-winning film that became a Broadway musical, about James Barrie’s inspiration for writing his classic. The show makes its North Texas debut at the Winspear, courtesy of the AT&T Performing Arts Center.

Asian Film Festival opens 16th incarnation with queer content on hand
The Asian Film Festival of Dallas has been exposing North Texans to the cinema of China, Japan, Taiwan and a host of other countries and filmmakers for 15 years. For the 16th annual fest, AFFD has more films than ever before – 70, with 35 features and 35 shorts, including LGBT-specific works, such as Albino, pictured (screening July 16), and Rage (July 15), as well as the entire Apu Trilogy.
It kicks off eight days of screenings Thursday.
