User Comments 07-03-2008 01:07:45 Yes, I work in a bar and have gone to bars here in Dallas for years. I am sick and tired of smelling like smoke when I leave. MOST major cities have banned smoking long ago. It did not hurt their business, actually it increased their business because people stay longer. It's high time they ban smoking here in Dallas. It IS a health issue!! My dad died early because he smoked. I didn't smoke because he did! Wake up Dallas and restrict smoking. Thank you. 07-03-2008 10:07:57 There has never been a single study showing that exposure to the low levels of smoke found in bars and restaurants with decent modern ventilation and filtration systems kills or harms anyone. As to the annoyance of smoking, a compromise between smokers and non-smokers can be reached, through setting a quality standard and the use of modern ventilation technology. Air ventilation can easily create a comfortable environment that removes not just passive smoke, but also and especially the potentially serious contaminants that are independent from smoking.
