Legacy of Success Foundation plans fundraising Bowl-A-Thon
The Legacy of Success Foundation will hold its second annual Bowl-A-Thon from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at 300 Dallas (formerly AMF Fun Fest) 3805 Belt Line Road in Addison.
The cost is $100 per four-person team, including bowling, shoes, pizza, popcorn and soda. Prizes and trophies will be awarded.

Immigration Equality holds information session on LGBT immigration issues
Jonathan Boarman, chapter coordinator for the North Central Texas Chapter of Immigration Equality, and John A. Nechman, a lawyer specializing in immigration issues, will present an information session about immigration issues affecting the LGBT community on Saturday in the auditorium of the Dallas Public Library, 1515 Young St.
A session in English begins at 1:30 p.m., followed by a session in Spanish at 3 p.m.

Casa Mexicana offering series of lectures on Dia de Los Muertos
Casa Mexicana art gallery will celebrate El Dia De Los Muertos (the Day of the Dead) with a series of one-hour lectures on the meaning and traditions of the holiday and building a traditional home altar, or ofrenda, for those who have died.
The lectures will be held on three consecutive Saturdays, beginning this weekend, from 11 a.m. to noon.
The lectures are free and open to the public and refreshments and educational handouts will be available.

ART is ART holding benefit for Tassie’s Hope Animal Rescue
ART is ART consignment studio begins its second year of business with a charity raffle benefiting Tassie’s Hope Animal Rescue. Tickets are $10 each, available at the studio, 6039 Oram St., and the winner will receive a $100 gift certificate to the studio.

TGRA-Fort Worth to hold fundraising show at Best Friends
The Fort Worth Chapter of the Texas Gay Rodeo Association will have a fundraising show Thursday at Best Friends Club, 2620 E. Lancaster Ave. in Fort Worth. The show begins at 9 p.m.
All proceeds will benefit TGRA-Fort Worth. Entertainers are still needed to participate. Line-up for the show begins at 8:30 p.m.
Kul Gallery presents “‘Walk on the Wild Side’ benefit for HRC Foundation
Kul Gallery and Store, 1303 Main St. in downtown Dallas, will present the first “Walk on the Wild Side” benefit event on Oct. 21 at 8 p.m., featuring imaginative, one-of-a-kind shoes to be auctioned off to benefit the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.
Designers such as Stuart Weitzman, Oscar de la Renta, Medium, To Boot New York and Sutor Mantelassi have donated shoes to be auctioned off at the event after being transformed into unique creations by a select group of artists, designers and celebrities.

Men of Essence, Women of Distinction present Halloween party fundraiser
The Men of Essence and Women of Distinction are joining forces to present the “Old School Halloween Bash” on Oct. 28, from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m., at Abbotsford Court, 14775 Midway Road in Addison.
Costumes from the 1960s and 70s are encouraged, and prizes for the best period costumes will be awarded.

Family Pride presenting Act Out family conference in Dallas in October
Family Pride, a national organization for families headed by LGBT people, will hold the Act Out: The National LGBT Family Conference at the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas Oct. 27-29.
The highlights of the conference will include the presentation of research and information about LGBT-headed families gathered since Family Pride’s Academic Symposium last spring, special workshops and leadership training for youth and adults with LGBT parents led by Children of Lesbians and Gays Everywhere, and regional breakout sessions including training in Family Pride’s “OUTSpoken Families” Speakers Bureau initiative.

Patricia Nell Warren to hold book-signing event at community center
Patricia Nell Warren, author of the ground-breaking book the Front Runner, will be signing copies of her new book, “Lavender Locker Rooms,” beginning at 7 p.m. on Nov. 2 at the John Thomas Gay and Lesbian Community Center, 2701 Reagan St.
A portion of the proceeds from book sales at this event will be donated to the Resource Center of Dallas’ Phil Johnson Historic Archives and Research Library.
Warren to be featured at UNT’s 3rd annual Diverse Women’s Seminar
Patricia Nell Warren, author of the ground-breaking gay novels “The Front Runner” and “Harlan’s Race” and the forthcoming book “The Lavender Locker Room,” will be moderator of the University of North Texas’ third annual Diverse Women’s Seminar on Nov. 3, in the Silver Eagle Suite of the UNT University Union. The theme of the seminar is “On the Job: Employment Issues for Women who are Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender and their Allies.”

Dragonflies offer presentation on legal issues for LGBT community
Dragonflies of Dallas, a social and support group for LGBT Asians and Pacific Islanders, will present a seminar entitled “Gay + Legal: The Law and How it Affects You,” at the group’s mixer on Nov. 4.
The event begins at 6 p.m. at the Resource Center of Dallas, 2701 Reagan St. It will feature a moderated panel of three lawyers answering questions and providing information on current legal issues affecting the LGBT community. Admission is free.

Angel Adventure 5K set to raise funds for brain tumor research
The National Brain Tumor Foundation will holds its first Dallas-Fort Worth Angel Adventure 5K fundraising walk on Nov. 4 at Trinity Park in Fort Worth.
The event will include an opening program with registration beginning at 8 a.m. on the day of the event. The registration fee is $25 for adults over 18, $15 for students ages 6 to 17, and free for children 5 and under. Adult participants are asked to raise at least $250. Prizes will be awarded to the top fundraising individual and th
